Hi everyone!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! 🥂

The newsletter is back for another year. Despite the holiday season we still had some interesting news, notably regarding the TanStack. Developers probably took this opportunity to work on their own open-source side projects 😄!

Don't forget to answer the State of React Native 2023 survey, it's your last chance!

Once again, this issue now has 2 authors Benedikt is helping me.

I hope to find time to write a full 2023 retrospective of the newsletter. Until then, if you are curious, I write monthly reports on my Indie Hackers page for 2 years now.

Hi everyone!

Once again this week, we have a good mix of articles and releases.

Firefox 121 is out, making CSS :has() officially cross-browser supported 🥲

That's the last issue of the year. The newsletter should be back on January 3.

Happy New Year and Merry Christmas everyone, and thank you for reading me throughout the year ❤️️

Hi everyone!

This has been a quite exciting week in terms of news!

We had a few great React releases and articles. It's great to see React-Forget slowly being rolled out on Instagram. Remotion also started to demonstrate its full potential with the GitHub Unwrapped launch.

React-Native is on fire, with v0.73 stable, Expo SDK 50 and Expo Router v3 in beta and a few other great releases. What excites me most is Expo gradually unveiling its plan to support Universal React Server Components.

This week's issue is quite special for me: it's the very first time I'm not alone writing the content. Benedikt almost wrote the entire React-Native section. I haven't used React-Native in production since 2020 😅 so it's nice to have someone using all the cutting edge libs help me provide relevant insights.

Don't forget to fill in the State of JavaScript and State of React-Native surveys. And if you could mention me at the end that's cool! Theo T3 shows you how 😄

Hi everyone!

I've found this week's CSS news particularly interesting! StyleX, CSS Hooks, Panda, Tailwind, CSS4...

The State of React Native survey is open. A new "bridgeless mode" will be introduced in version 0.73 (which has just been released 5 minutes before hitting publish lol!)

Hi everyone!

It's been a long time, I hope you haven't missed me too much 😄

I've been on paternity leave and enjoyed my little Louise 👨‍🍼😍.

Apparently my absence hasn't slowed down the growth of this newsletter, which has just passed 30,000 subscribers! 🥳️

This is the first time I've taken such a long break (5 weeks), and it's hard to get back at it. You know I like to be exhaustive, but it's impossible for me to read and comment on everything that's happened since the last issue 😅. In short, this email is going to contain a lot of interesting links, but not necessarily commented on. I'll do better next week, I promise!

In the future, I'd like to make this more professional, and publish every single week consistently. I'm looking for someone to help me. If you're interested, please apply (paid).

Hi everyone!

There's a lot of content this week! Releases, but also some very good React articles. And there's no end in sight, with some great React conferences coming up: React Advanced, Next.js Conf, reactjsday...

I've also got some great news to share with you in advance: I'm about to become the father of a little girl 🤗

For the 1st time ever, the newsletter will be taking a long break of several weeks, starting now. The next newsletter issue is scheduled for November 29.

Otherwise I'm staying on course to pass 30,000 subscribers by the end of the year. While I'm away, you can keep bringing me new mates 😜

Thank you and see you soon 👋

Hi everyone!

This week, I've been looking at the release of Lit 3.0 to see if the use of Web Components has become easier with React.

On the React-Native side, version 0.73 is in release candidate with a number of DX improvements. There's also interesting activity regarding the possible optimisation of the Text and View components. Canvaskit-js makes it possible to run Skia on the web for just 20kb!

There were some interesting announcements at ViteConf last week. Notably a Rust port of Rollup, and the usage of Vite with Remix and React-Native.

Hi everyone!

After a little break, we're catching up on 2 weeks of news this week!

There's been quite a few releases, including Remix and Next.js, but also some lesser-known packages that are well worth your attention.

Super excited to see Expo finally venturing server-side!

Hi everyone!

This week, the runtimes are in the spotlight. Of course, we'll be talking about Bun and Static Hermes.

I'll spare you the heated debates on Twitter this week 😅 let's stick to positive vibes.

For React experts, check out the React Advanced conf in London from 20 to 23 October (-10% - code "REACT10").
