This week it's particularly exciting to see React Native Skia reaching 1.0. But we also have many other interesting releases to look at: Pigment, Storybook, Tailwind, Rolldown, MDXTS...

There were also some fun ones, such as Mist and Geist. I'm really curious to know what you think of them. Would you use these?

I'm trying to monitor more closely weak signals (PRs, RFCs and tweets), do you find this kind of news valuable?

I took a break last week, so we're catching up on two weeks' worth of news, and there's been a lot of it! Many of you like the exhaustive nature of my emails, so... have fun being overwhelmed by the number of links 😅!

We have great updates from Meta, with the React Labs update you are probably already aware of, and more recently the React Strict DOM update for cross-platform enthusiast. I'm also excited for the new milestone Remix 2.7 crossed, marketing th beginning of a migration path from React Router apps to Remix SPA mode.

This week we have many great React articles and a few interesting releases. It seems that React is constantly being criticized, but overall, the arguments are always the same and many of them seems a bit outdated, and never acknowledging what React does better than other solutions.

The React Native world is taken over by the official launch of Vision Pro!

@ThisWeekInReact is our brand-new X account, hit subscribe! The promise is to share and retweet interesting things happening in the React community in near-real-time, and to be as high-signal/low-noise as possible.

This week React Server Components have been once-again the subject of various articles and discussions. The community has mitigated feelings about Next.js App Router. Even if people embrace the vision, they seem a little disappointed by its current implementation. Let's hope it's only temporary 🤞.

React Native has been particularly interesting this week. The State of React Native survey results have been published, and the general feeling towards React Native is increasingly positive. There are also interesting bits related to Skia, Reanimated, or the bridgeless mode. The community is excited about Expo becoming a full-stack universal framework.

This week the official React conf has been announced. Co-hosted with Callstack, I hope for React Native to be well-covered! React 19 is coming, and we continue to get sneak peeks into upcoming features such as proper Web Components support. I wouldn't be surprised to see it being released during the conf alongside React Forget 🤞.

In other news, this week is full of interesting articles and releases, including Next.js, React-Emails...

The React Native world has woken up with an impressive Expo SDK 50 release, and Expo Router v3 becoming the very first universal full-stack React framework.

This week we had some really great React articles, but also interesting releases from Waku and Remix. The community shared mitigated but interesting feedback on React Server Components, regarding complexity and ownership.

On the React Native side, it's calm. We are eagerly waiting for the Expo SDK 50 which this time is released much later than the beta. We are also waiting for the official launch of VisionOS, a new platform that React Native will support.

I just celebrated 10 years of React experience 🙉 It's hard to believe how my career changed thanks to React, considering I used to really dislike JavaScript.

JavaScript Rising Stars 2023 has been published. This year I had the opportunity to comment on the React section. shadcn/ui and Bun took the world by storm. I’m also thankful for Theo recommending my newsletter in his related trend analysis video: welcome to all of you who signed up recently 🙏

Paris 2024 is not only the Olympic Games: we are also back at the center of the React conf world! Since the end of React Europe, there has been a lack of great React conferences in Paris. It’s finally fixed with 3 great upcoming confs 👌

• 📅 22 March - React Paris - The crew behind React Brussels and BeJS is launching a new conference in Paris and a great line-up has just been announced today!

• 📅 22-23 April - React Connection + React-Native Connection - Last year’s half-day React-Native conference that I helped organize was a great success. So it returns this year as a 1-day + 1-day conference, making it more worth it to travel. CFP is open until 3 February.

I’ll try to attend both, and hope to meet some of you there!

The newsletter is back for another year. Despite the holiday season we still had some interesting news, notably regarding the TanStack. Developers probably took this opportunity to work on their own open-source side projects 😄!
